trinity and community

this maybe a review for those that have read my previous posts, but these verses just keep coming back to me. i also added some comments on community, so if you read about the trinity in one of my previous posts and don't want to read it again, however, i recommend it, repetition is all over the bible, you can scroll down some.

i used this in a hand out for the teens that i was teaching on a wednesday night once.

Gen 1:1-3
The Account of Creation
1In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
2The earth was empty, a formless mass cloaked in darkness. And the Spirit of God was hovering over its surface.
3Then God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.

What is illustrated with these “3”, emphasis on “3”, verses?

In verse 1 we see God the Creator.
In verse 2 we see an illustration of God as the Holy Spirit. How is the Holy Spirit illustrated? Does this sound like a good description of the Holy Spirit to you? Did you know that in the greek the Holy Spirit is called "pneuma." We have taken that word and added it to things that are driven by air, or are associated to air. Like tools, and diseases.
In verse 3 we see what?

If you had to start the bible by using a book in the new testament, what book would you use, and why?

John 1:1-5
Christ, the Eternal Word
1In the beginning the Word already existed. He was with God, and he was God.
2He was in the beginning with God.
3He created everything there is. Nothing exists that he didn't make.
4Life itself was in him, and this life gives light to everyone.
5The light shines through the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.

So in verse 3, of the Genesis text, we see Jesus mentioned. Have you ever thought of Gen 1:1-3 like this before? What do you think of them now?

Gen 2:18, 21-25
18And the LORD God said, "It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a companion who will help him."
---
21So the LORD God caused Adam to fall into a deep sleep. He took one of Adam's ribs and closed up the place from which he had taken it.
22Then the LORD God made a woman from the rib and brought her to Adam. 23"At last!" Adam exclaimed. "She is part of my own flesh and bone! She will be called 'woman,' because she was taken out of a man."
24This explains why a man leaves his father and mother and is joined to his wife, and the two are united into one.
25Now, although Adam and his wife were both naked, neither of them felt any shame.

This is the first time we see God not pleased. He, Himself, is not alone, and He doesn't want adam to be alone. So he gives eve to adam.

So now adam has eve, and everything is cool. Why do you think that they felt no shame with their nakedness? See everything was cool when they were following the instructions they were given. They had nothing, litereally, to block them from each other. They shared with each other, and God freely. When did things change?

Gen 3:8-12
8Toward evening they heard the LORD God walking about in the garden, so they hid themselves among the trees.
9The LORD God called to Adam, "Where are you?"
10He replied, "I heard you, so I hid. I was afraid because I was naked."
11"Who told you that you were naked?" the LORD God asked. "Have you eaten the fruit I commanded you not to eat?"
12"Yes," Adam admitted, "but it was the woman you gave me who brought me the fruit, and I ate it."

Blame enters the picture. Now things change because they are not following the instructions they were given. They now hide from each other, and do not share with each other.

This world we live in causes us to believe that no one will understand what we are going through, so we put our own fig leaves on and do not share. If we too only would follow God's instructions things would be a lot better for us.

Did you know that word used to describe how man and woman are one, is only used one other place, and used to describe one other thing? Can you guess what that is ... you guessed it!! It is when the Trinity is described. God wants us to share with each other, and especially our wife/husband.

So go do it. Easy to say and type, but hard to do. I hope you have good results.
